Democracy,Advantage or Disadvantage

Last Saturday ,I was with one of my friend who is a journalist. He took me to FICCI auditorium where there was a award ceremony of Media Federation Of India.Smt Golma Devi(Minister from Rajasthan)was called to give the awards. It was very disheartening to see that an in a country like India where minimum qualfication for a peon in Govt.offices is matriculation,an illiterate can become a minister and rule over the bureaucrats.Golma Devi can not even sign(it took three days to teach her how to sign). She even couldn't read her oath and her Ministerial oath was being considered as read along with another minister.Golma Devi is just an example, there are many. Is it a advantage or disadvantage of democracy? An illiterate person who can not read or write can become education minister,a person not having any knowledge of medical science or health management can become a health minister and so on.What would be the future of the country if the leaders will be unskilled, uneducated, having no control over himself/herself.
This event has shaked me and my thought process.I am not putting a full stop here because this system need to be changed for the betterment of society and human being......
your thoughts are invited..

The only way to stop such people from making mockery of our democracy is to vote and vote for candidate on the basis of his character and education. And not no the basis of his/her caste and religion.
