Personal branding in the age of Google

From Seth Godin`s Blog:

A friend advertised on Craigslist for a housekeeper.Three interesting resumes came to the top. She googled each person's name. The first search turned up a MySpace page. There was a picture of the applicant, drinking beer from a funnel. Under hobbies, the first entry was, "binge drinking."

The second search turned up a personal blog (a good one, actually). The most recent entry said something like, "I am applying for some menial jobs that are below me, and I'm annoyed by it. I'll certainly quit the minute I sell a few paintings."

And the third? There were only six matches, and the sixth was from the local police department, indicating that the applicant had been arrested for shoplifting two years earlier.

Three for three.

Google never forgets.

Of course, you don't have to be a drunk, a thief or a bitter failure for this to backfire. Everything you do now ends up in your permanent record. The best plan is to overload Google with a long tail of good stuff and to always act as if you're on Candid Camera, because you are.

Here’s my favorite poem of all time, courtesy of Mr. Robert Frost…

~ Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening ~
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

enjoy it

A single night,
To unlock my desire..
Tomorrow will be too late
To set off the fire.
My ears are eager to listen
For so longI too will tell you
And sing all love song
I should let you know
How I waited in the rain,
With eternal passion for you ..
And with eternal pain.
Let me open my eyesTo spark the desire
.And let me stretch my arms outTo hold the fire.
I keep my love and keep my passionWithin my heart, till the core,
You can make it out..That's about I am sure.
May this night willNever reach the end..
And let me live my life..With you ; within this moment..

Dilli 6

Maverick Rehman is on a dream run this year, After winning the Golden Globe for Slumdog Millionaire, he is at his creative best once again with Dilli 6.For me Dilli 6 is  one of his finest work till date. The album is a artistic amalgamation of various music form and amazingly diverse soundtracks. Each and every song in Dehli-6 upholds the high standards Rahman has set for himself.WIth Prasoon Joshi`s smashing lyrics, the song "Masakalli" is a song which grabs you by the ear right away with the sweet accordion sounds of the keyboard and soft percussion. While “Genda Phool” is a beautifull adaptation of traditional fokesong from UP and Bihar, mixed with the techno beats of Hip-Hop.
The song "Bhor Bhayee" is an old thumri by Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan sabah, sung almost four decades ago  based on raag Gujri Todi. The song sung by Shreya where her  voice has been  juxtaposed with Ustad Saahib. Its song like this which can create a interest of the new generation in Indian Classical Music.
I strongly recommend a must listen for this album.
